Have had a quiet New Year's Eve, mainly reading. Tim and family came back from their holiday in a resort in China this morning, and he dropped by briefly. I think we are going to have a little present opening when he brings the girls.
I didn't go to any services this morning, but this evening went to the Watch Night and Covenant Renewal at 11.00pm, preceded by drinks and nibbles. I was somewhat surprised that there wasn't a single member of the clergy in evidence, the Service was all done by lay people. Perhaps the clergy felt they had taken enough services for one Christmas.
I am not used to going out after dark unless I am picked up, so was a bit nervous of venturing out. Fortunately a lot of the wet leaves seem to have blown away, as slipping on them is my main anxiety. I actually sat down and prayed for a safe walk before leaving home.
When I got home I turned on the television for something traditional and jolly from north of the border, but there was just a load of singers and guitarists who didn't do anything for me. Whatever happened to Andy Stewart and the White Heather Club? I used to love them on New Year's Eve.
Well, I think it just remains for me dear friends and loved ones to wish you all a happy 2018.
