Burns Night

Robert  Burns is a famous Scots poet, he wrote "Auld Lang Syne" which is always sung at midnight on New Year's Eve wherever British people are partying.  And January 25th was the date of his birth,  so all over Scotland tonight there will be Burns Night celebrations.

The traditional feast is haggis, a type of sausage prepared in a sheep’s stomach that is minced with onion, oatmeal, suet (raw beef or lamb fat), spices, and salt, mixed with stock accompanied by mashed potatoes, swedes and turnips (neeps and tatties).  How delicious is that!!    And it will all be washed down with copious amounts of Scotch whisky.  Truly a night to be north of the border.

So what have I been up to lately?   Mainly watching the news from the US - note dear friends and critics - NOT the evil Fox News but the highly respectable BBC.   And I see,  somewhat to my amazement, that Donald Trump is still tweeting away, I'd have thought he would be too busy.  But he has apparently  already  signed his Executive Order to  build the wall along the southern border.  The Wall that is going to keep out all the nasty Mexicans from  bringing in their bad habits and diseases .

What happened to “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.... ?
