Sunday 27th

Trump seems to have been eclipsed in the news by the death of Fidel Castro.  To my friends in Oklahoma who admired his socialism and his efforts on behalf of the poor people of Cuba - he brought health care and education to Cuba - I know you must be feeling saddened and I am thinking of you.  To those who think he was the worst despot since Genghis Khan I would just say that  "Judgement is Mine, saith the Lord".   Romans 19.

Tim picked me up to go to the 8 o'clock service this morning and this evening there was a Baptism and Confirmation.

I don't think I have ever seen a bishop so casually dressed.   He was obviously wearing a dog collar, and the right colour clerical shirt for a bishop, except that it wasn't so much a 'shirt' it looked more of a pullover - in spite of the dog collar - worn over a pair of grey trousers he could have been gardening in this afternoon.   He didn't even wear a stole, which I thought was mandatory.  As it was a service for young people I wondered if he wanted to appear more 'friendly' perhaps, less intimidating than dressed to the nines, as they usually are.

Apart from that I have just been quietly reading today.   Yesterday I went shopping with Tim and Marie, and Tim cooked a meal in the evening, and that was very nice.
