My goodness, it has been a while hasn't it. When I started the blog in Oklahoma it was mainly for the benefit of family back home, so they could click on it and see I was still functioning. Now I am back here I want to keep it going so that I can stay in touch with all the good, kind friends I made over there. It will probably have a different slant - letting you know what I have been up to, if anything, and commenting/explaining/generally writing about life here for a mainly US readership. And maybe just two or three posts a week, but I will e-mail my known friends and followers when I have posted an entry.
There is so much of interest to see in Oxford I haven't really been as active as I should have been, perhaps next week if the weather is fine I might exert myself and take a city tour on top of a bus.

The weather has been changeable, some days have been lovely and summery and I have sat in the garden, or the conservatory, of Tim and Marie's hotel along the road, it is managed by a lovely Romanian couple who are very kind to me. Other days, like today, are wet and grey. I remind myself that when the temperatures were in the high 90s, and even pushing 103 in Shawnee, wet and grey was what I longed for.
Last Monday was a Public Holiday and Tim and family, myself and Pat my sister went to lunch at a country pub, then on to Brighton, a popular resort on the south coast. There is a new attraction on the seafront which just opened last month.
It is the British Airways i360, a 162-metre (531 ft) observation tower. The "i" in the title stands for "intelligence, innovation and integrity". The column is 4 metres in diameter, and is the world's slenderest tall tower, first vertical cable car and tallest moving observation tower.
Not a terribly good picture but you could look it up online for a better view.

A view along the beach from the top of the tower.
There was a fund raising concert at the church this evening, called 'A Night on Broadway' featuring songs from all the famous Broadway shows, and I'd intended going but it completely slipped my mind - thought of it half an hour after it started. At first I was annoyed with myself but then Tim stopped by for a visit so I was glad I was in.

I was reflecting that in one or two respects life is more hard work here. I needed some cash this afternoon - in Shawnee I could go along to an ATM and be back home in 15 minutes, here it involves a walk along the road to catch a bus to Summertown and back. But happy as I was in Oklahoma it is wonderful to be back here, to have a 'family', I used to have a pang when I looked round at friends in Shawnee visiting and occupied with their families.
The Tower looks wonderful, what a great addition...Your parish is having a fundraiser, meaning the Crown is not adequately funding?...fyi, my blog continues apace, containing mostly Sunday and Holy Day homilies, but also the occasional odd piece, at sanditepriest.blogspot.com.
