I thought I had better post something this morning before you all think I have given up the blog. I am not going to give it up because I really want to keep in touch with all the kind friends I made in the US, I miss you all and hope you don't forget me. I will probably just do a couple of posts a week and will e-mail when I do a new post.
Our newly installed minister at St Andrew's presided at the 8 o'clock service on Sunday. I haven't had a chance to talk to him yet, there was a crowd of people surrounding him over the tea and buns afterwards. As he had been a member of the church before leaving to train for ordination he obviously knows a lot of the members. He seems kind, pleasant, interested - my only criticism is the fact that he reads his sermon from a prepared script, which is anaethema to me, but that is just me, I am not sure it bothers anyone else. He did however look up and around at the congregation quite frequently.
I haven't stopped my e-mail notification of the daily price of electricity from OG&E in Shawnee (it gives me a good idea of how hot it is there) and I was somewhat startled to see today that the peak rate has dropped from about 19 to 5 cents per kw.hour - are you all turning off your air conditioning, it must be getting cooler?
Obviously air conditioning is not something we need over here, we get high electricity bills in the winter when it gets cold; which reminds me that I had better inform the Pensions Dept that I am looking forward to receiving my £200 winter fuel allowance this year which they didn't think I needed in Oklahoma.
Did anyone else with Windows 10 receive a massive lot of updates yesterday? they must have taken the best part of an hour to upload, and I am surprised to see that I have now got a £ sign - it used to be a hashtag.
Well I have rambled on rather and I recognise that it hasn't been very interesting, I must try and get out and about a bit more.
