Last Few Days

I had a lovely weekend with Jeremy.   I met him in London on Friday evening and we took the train to Oxted.

On Saturday we picked up his friend Janet and went shopping in Redhill, a nearby largish town, then to the cinema in the afternoon and saw the newly released Bridget Jones film.   The cinema serves glasses of red or white wine one can sip in the auditorium, which I thought was a very good idea. Someone send Ronnie Jones a memo (note to English readers - he's a member of Emmanuel and owns the cinemas in Shawnee).    On second thoughts, I am not sure the rigid Oklahoma drinking laws would permit the sale of alcohol in its cinemas.   We enjoyed the film and Jeremy cooked a meal when we got back.

On Sunday we went to the gardens of the Royal Horticultural Society which has some of the largest plant collections anywhere in the world, and is also a centre of education for gardeners.   It was lovely, we really enjoyed it.   Afterwards Jeremy and Janet drove me back to Oxford and stopped for a little while.

I am glad the weather was dry yesterday because it has rained hard all day today.   This evening Tim picked me up and we went to the Institution, Induction and Installation of the new vicar at St Andrews, by the Bishop of Dorchester.   There currently isn't a Bishop of Oxford, I think a new one is about to be appointed.

Drinks and snacks were served afterwards, we couldn't stop though as Tim needed to get home, but from my first impression of the new vicar he seemed a good guy, very pleasant.   He has a young family and was previously a member of St Andrew's from the time he was married in 2004 until 2011.

I had news of Bubbles, I asked how she was and was glad to hear that although she is obviously missing my attention she hasn't run away, I thought she might when I was told a kitten had joined the family, but Bubbles ignores it apparently.

I hope the weather is drier tomorrow, I was told it was going to be like this until next summer.
