I haven't been out very much in the last two or three days, I've been mainly working on crocheting projects for my new home when I move on the 11th June.
I did have a lovely surprise today. I didn't know, but dear Tim had packed my silk duvet into one of those bags where you extract the air from it, then gave it to Phyllis to post here. I hadn't been able to use it in Shawnee because of Bubbles prancing about over the bed, so am looking forward to using it when I move.
I went shopping with Tim - on Monday I think it was - to M&S Foods in Summertown. M&S is a big store known for its good quality and reasonably priced clothing. and they all have a Food Hall, but this one in Summertown is just a Food Hall. I thought I'd DIED and gone to Culinary Heaven, they had the most wonderful array of foods and ready prepared meals I'd never seen before, and they all looked so original. And they had a big fish counter with lots and lots of different cold water fish from the Atlantic or the North Sea. I never want to see another tilapia in my life.
I would just say though - in fairness to Oklahoma which is cattle country - that I doubt I'd ever find a steak as good as they are there.
Oklahoma is such a long, long, way away. It has been slowly dawning on me that, as it is not a place one can ever realistically go and visit, I'll never again walk round the hospital corridors, pick up a take-away from the Golden Corrall, make desserts for the Wednesday meal - the little things that made up my life in Oklahoma.
I saw the State Opening of Parliament today and thought the crown and heavy robes the Queen was wearing were far too heavy for her, she could hardly drag herself to the Throne. And her hairstyle still looks as if she has just emerged from a shampoo and set at a local village hairdressers. I've always had a problem with her frumpy hairstyle because she could have the best cut and style in the world. Bless her.
It sounds as though you are settled in nicely. I agree with your comment about fish; I'd gladly settle for a bit of plaice and chips right now. Yesterday, Wayne Copeland motored in with a friend and we eat at Coney Island (three hot dogs with chilli, cheese, and onions; qne a pathetic American beer) and then did a sort of auto- tour of Tulsa. It was a nice afternoon. Wayne mentioned that Lindsey Peters passed; he was an Emmanuelite whilst his wife Shirley was alive. Anon...
