Monday morning

I had a WONDERFUL day yesterday, Sunday.   Son Jeremy came up from Oxted in Surrey, with his  friend Janet, to take me out to lunch.   Tim and grand daughter Miranda also joined us, which was good.

We had lunch at the inn where Oliver Cromwell stayed the night before the Battle of Oxford in our Civil War, 1643-48.  (you see why I smiled when told in a reverential tone of voice shortly after my arrival in Shawnee, that Emmanuel was VERY OLD, a hundred years.  You have got so much to be proud of in Shawnee and I appreciated all of it, but suggest you don't try and compete in the historical stakes).

Although the lunch was good the service was very slow, so we adjourned for coffee to the hotel Tim and Marie own, which is managed by a lovely Romanian couple, and had tea and coffee there in the very pretty garden.

It was all so good to be with my loved ones, my nearest and dearest and as I said, it was a wonderful day.

  1. This Sunday sounds a lovely day. I am sure your heart was warmed by the Cromwell connexion! I wonder if Tim might know Shackleford at all, that town being also in Surrey although in the western portion.
