31st - early

I haven't been keeping up very well with this lately - the main reason being that I am suffering from the most awful back pain, and finding it terribly painful and difficult to move about;  otherwise I might have been up and about and catching buses into the City.    Or at least walking a bit more into Summertown, the local shops in this part of north Oxford.

I did go to church on Sunday and everybody there is very friendly and welcoming, and after the Service there was the monthly lunch.   A typical English Sunday lunch of roast lamb, roast potatoes, veg, and dessert.    Instead of people bringing contributions to the meal, as at Emmanuel, a team cooks it all, and we give a donation.

Tim has been looking after me, my daughter in law is in China, and my lovely grand daughters who are 15 and 11 - Davina and Miranda - are a great joy to be around.   They go to good schools and it shows in their considerate ways and wonderful manners.

Well, I hope to be back soon with my blog and will drop you - those I know are my regular readers - an e-mail.

I'm writing this up in the middle of the night because I couldn't sleep.  I'll have another try.

  1. The parish luncheon sounds wonderful and rather simpler than the American potluck. In the US this past weekend was our equivalent of Remembrance Day and, of course, today is the feast of the Visitation. Have a pleasant week.
