Early Saturday morning

Well, well, well.   No sooner it seems that the FBI announce they have finished investigating Hilary Clinton and she is in the clear, and on her way to the White House, and something else emerges in regard to her e-mails which needs to be investigated (one wonders how it was missed in the first place when it was supposed to be all done and dusted).

If I had heard this development on the evil Fox News, even I might have viewed it with some cynicism, but this is the highly respectable BBC, with no axes to grind, reporting it.

Can an American reading this tell me - a bewildered foreigner - what would happen in the event of her being indicted, and out of the Presidential race.   People have started voting, can the Democrats field another candidate at this late stage, or will Trump be elected by default?

  1. As I recall, her resignation would require the Democratic Party to engage a special process by which a new nominee is selected. I am given to understand that the nominee would not necessarily be Pence.

    1. I knew a former constitutional lawyer would be able to tell me :-).

  2. Apologies! I should have written "Kaine," not "Pence."
