First of all, I have had two sessions with a chiropractor and my painful back, which was preventing me from moving about, is a lot better.
As you know, I was moving on the 11th June but there has been a hitch in the plans, so to all of you to whom I sent my new address, wait for an update.
Oxford is a wonderful city in which to live, I have to say it has more going for it than Shawnee. A little project I have in mind when I'm more settled and able to concentrate, is to look at all the Oxford colleges. There are 38. The oldest are University College, Balliol and Merton founded between 1249 and 1264. The most recent is Kellogg, founded in 1990.
In addition to the colleges there are 6 permanent private halls founded by different Christian denominations, these are governed by the corresponding Christian denomination, whereas the colleges are governed by the Fellows of the College.
Weather here is warm and pleasant today. I understand it is hot in Shawnee, I'm still getting OG&E's notifications of the electricity price for the day, and yesterday saw it had shot up to 18 cents per kilowatt hour, from about 9.
I'm thinking of going for a little stroll (I'm certainly getting some exercise here) to the local shops in Summertown for a cup of tea at a pavement café. I'm astonished at all the students in white ties and tails, with pink carnation buttonholes, flying past me on their bikes.
