Monday 13th

Just had wonderful weekend with Jeremy in Oxted, Surrey.  I took the coach from Oxford on Friday, Jeremy said he would meet me when I got off the bus.   Unfortunately, as we got near the terminal, the driver announced we were approaching London Victoria and everyone jumped up and began collecting their luggage.  I got up too and jumped off,  but it wasn't the right stop, I should have looked around me first, I would have seen it wasn't the terminal.

But thanks to smart phones (which are the greatest blessing of the 20th/21st centuries, we'd never have found  each other otherwise) we did meet up.   It was rather chilly so I stepped inside the hallway of a wine bar to wait, to the chagrin of the maitre d' who gave me dirty looks, to which I am impervious.

At Oxted we drove straight to his friend Janet who was expecting us for dinner with her daughter, Jaine.   We were sitting and chatting at the table afterwards, then I stood up to go to the bathroom when I suddenly felt very ill and collapsed on the way back.  Janet called the paramedics out, they brought in their equipment and gave me all the tests I would have had in an A&E department, but after a little rest on the sofa I felt alright.   The paramedics thought my blood pressure had dropped very suddenly, and gave me a report which I will take to my doctor in Oxford.

I learned afterwards Jeremy and Janet first thought I was having a stroke, which must have been terribly worrying for them.

As it was so dark and cold out Janet kindly invited us to stay the night.   She used to run a B&B so has the rooms.

Jeremy and I had lunch out in a restaurant in  Oxted on Sunday, and I have to say here I do miss the 'boxes to go' which they have in the States.    Over here we have to eat everything in front of us, including anything still left in serving dishes, otherwise it is all whisked away.   How sad is that.

So now, Monday morning. I need to exert myself, get up.
